What is Akurit-3 Tablet?

Akurit-3 is a combination medicine used to treat tuberculosis (TB). It works by stopping the growth of bacteria that cause the infection.

How to Take It?

  • Take on an empty stomach, as prescribed by your doctor.

  • Swallow the tablet whole—do not chew, crush, or break it.

  • Take at the same time daily for best results.

  • Complete the full course even if you feel better. Stopping early can make the infection harder to treat.

What If I Miss a Dose?

  • If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember.

  • If it’s almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose.

Side Effects

Common side effects (usually mild and temporary):

  • Nausea, vomiting, fever

  • Dark-colored urine, sweating

  • Increased saliva, watery eyes

  • Rash, joint pain (gout), tingling in hands/feet

Serious side effects (seek medical help immediately):

  • Yellow skin/eyes (jaundice)

  • Vision problems, severe dizziness

  • Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty)

Precautions & Warnings

  • Avoid alcohol—can cause severe reactions (flushing, nausea, low BP).

  • Liver/Kidney problems? Consult your doctor before use.

  • Pregnancy/Breastfeeding? Discuss risks with your doctor.

  • Driving? Avoid if you experience dizziness or vision changes.

Dietary Restrictions

  • Avoid tyramine-rich foods (aged cheese, smoked fish, processed meats, some beers) to prevent side effects.

Lifestyle Tips

  • Drink plenty of water to help with side effects.

  • Get regular check-ups and lab tests as advised by your doctor.

Why Complete the Full Course?

TB treatment requires long-term medication (usually 6+ months). Skipping doses or stopping early can lead to drug-resistant TB, which is harder to treat.

Always follow your doctor’s instructions! If you have concerns about side effects or dosage, consult your healthcare provider.
