Generic Name: Azithromycin
Type: Macrolide antibiotic

Uses

Treats bacterial infections of:

• Respiratory tract (lungs, throat, sinuses)

• Ear, nose, skin, eyes

• Typhoid fever

• Sexually transmitted infections (e.g., gonorrhea)

Dosage & Administration

• How to take: Oral, as a whole tablet (do not crush/chew).

• Timing: Preferably 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.

• Course: Complete the full prescribed course, even if symptoms improve.

Side Effects (Usually mild and temporary)

• Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea

• Abdominal pain, headache

Precautions & Warnings

• Avoid if: History of azithromycin-induced liver problems (cholestatic jaundice).

• Consult doctor before use if:

  • Allergic to macrolides.
