Clariwin 500 Tablet

Generic Name: Clarithromycin
Class: Macrolide antibiotic

Uses

Treats bacterial infections, including:

• Respiratory tract (lungs, throat, sinuses)

• Ear, nose, skin infections

• H. pylori (peptic ulcers)

• MAC (in immunocompromised patients)

Dosage

• Take orally, preferably 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.

• Avoid antacids within 2 hours of dosing.

• Complete the full course even if symptoms improve.

Side Effects

Common: Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, rash, taste changes.
Rare: Liver function abnormalities, insomnia.

Warnings

• Avoid alcohol (increases drowsiness/risk of side effects).

• Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: Unsafe—consult doctor.

• Driving: May cause dizziness/drowsiness.

• Kidney/Liver Disease: Use with caution (dose adjustment may be needed).

Drug Interactions

• Avoid tyramine-rich foods (aged cheese, smoked fish, certain beers).

• Inform doctor about all other medications (e.g., blood thinners, statins).

How It Works
