Active Ingredient: Isosorbide Mononitrate (10mg)
Class: Nitrate vasodilator

Uses:

• Prevents angina (heart-related chest pain) by improving blood flow to the heart.

• Also used for heart failure, coronary artery disease, and hypertensive emergencies.

• Off-label: May treat anal fissures (due to vasodilation effects).

How It Works:

• Relaxes and widens blood vessels, reducing the heart’s workload and oxygen demand.

Dosage & Administration:

• Take as prescribed, usually once/twice daily.

• Swallow whole; can be taken with/without food at a fixed time.

• Do not stop suddenly (risk of rebound angina).

Side Effects (Common):

• Headache, flushing, dizziness.

• Upper respiratory infections, abdominal pain, diarrhea.

• Manage headaches with painkillers and hydration.

Warnings & Precautions:

• Avoid alcohol (risk of severe low BP, flushing).

• Do not take with ED drugs (e.g., sildenafil) → dangerous BP drop.

• Caution in: Low BP, glaucoma, heart failure.

• Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: Consult doctor.

• Driving: May cause drowsiness/dizziness; avoid if affected.

Tolerance Development:

• Long-term use may reduce effectiveness. Follow a dosing schedule (e.g., “nitrate-free interval” as advised).

Missed Dose:

• Take ASAP if remembered. Skip if close to next dose. Never double dose.
