Generic Name: Olmesartan
Therapeutic Class: Angiotensin Receptor Blocker (ARB)
Uses:

Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure).

Reduces risk of heart attack, stroke, and heart failure.

Protects kidney function in diabetic patients.
Dosage & Administration:
-
Take once daily, with or without food, at a fixed time.

Swallow whole; do not crush/chew.
-
Do not stop abruptly even if BP is controlled.
Mechanism of Action:
Blocks angiotensin II receptors → relaxes blood vessels → lowers BP and improves blood flow.
Side Effects (Common):
Dizziness, cough, diarrhea, nausea, headache, indigestion, flu-like symptoms (runny nose, sore throat).
Precautions & Warnings:

Avoid in pregnancy/breastfeeding (risk of fetal harm).

Alcohol: Unsafe (causes drowsiness/dizziness).

Kidney/Liver Disease: Use with caution; dose adjustment may be needed. Avoid in severe kidney disease.
