Uses:

• Treatment of schizophrenia (restores brain chemical balance, improves thinking/behavior).

• Treatment of mania (stabilizes mood, prevents extreme excitement).

Dosage:

• Take with or without food, preferably at night.

• Swallow whole; do not crush/chew.

• Missed dose: Take ASAP, but skip if close to next dose.

Key Side Effects:

• Drowsiness, dizziness, weight gain, headache.

• Parkinsonism (tremors, rigidity), increased saliva, urinary infection.

• Rare but serious: Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS—fever, muscle rigidity, confusion).

Precautions:

• Avoid alcohol (increases drowsiness).

• Monitor blood sugar (risk of diabetes).

• Rise slowly (may cause low blood pressure).

• Do not drive if drowsy or dizzy.

• Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: Consult doctor (potential risks).
