What is Telpres CT 40/6.25 Tablet?

It is a combination of two blood pressure-lowering medicines:

• Telmisartan (40mg) – Relaxes blood vessels for better blood flow.

• Chlorthalidone (6.25mg) – A diuretic (“water pill”) that removes excess fluid, lowering blood pressure.

Why is it prescribed?

• To treat hypertension (high blood pressure).

• Reduces the risk of heart attack, stroke, or kidney problems when taken long-term.

How to Take It

• Dose: As prescribed by your doctor.

• Timing: Preferably at the same time daily (avoid taking within 4 hours of bedtime to prevent nighttime urination).

• With/without food: Can be taken either way.

• Do not stop abruptly without consulting your doctor.

Common Side Effects

• Dizziness

• Back pain

• Diarrhea

• Frequent urination (normal due to chlorthalidone)

• Low potassium, high uric acid

• Headache, nausea

Serious Warnings

• Avoid alcohol (can worsen dizziness and lower BP further).

• Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: Unsafe – may harm the baby.

• Driving/Alertness: May cause dizziness/drowsiness; avoid driving if affected.

• Kidney/Liver Disease: Use with caution; dose adjustments may be needed. Avoid if severe.

What If You Miss a Dose?

Take it as soon as you remember. If close to the next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double the dose.
