Type: Oral Anticoagulant (Blood Thinner)

Uses:

Prevents harmful blood clots in:

• Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)

• Pulmonary embolism (PE)

• Stroke prevention

• Other clot-related conditions

How It Works:

• Inhibits clot formation (does not dissolve existing clots).

• Prevents growth of clots to avoid blockages.

Dosage & Administration:

• Take as prescribed, with/without food, at a fixed time.

• Do NOT chew/crush/break the tablet.

• Avoid sudden discontinuation without doctor’s advice.

• Dietary Note: Limit Vitamin K-rich foods (spinach, broccoli, etc.).

Side Effects:

• Common: Bleeding (nosebleeds, gums, etc.).

• Serious (Seek Help): Blood in urine/stool, vomiting blood, unusual bruising.

Safety Warnings:

• Pregnancy: ❌ Unsafe (risk to fetus).

• Breastfeeding: ✔️ Safe (minimal transfer to milk).

• Alcohol: ❌ Avoid (increases bleeding risk).

• Kidney/Liver Disease: ✔️ Safe but monitor closely (dose adjustments may be needed).

• Surgery/Dental Work: Inform doctor (may need to pause medication).

Missed Dose:

• Skip if missed; do NOT double dose.
